Our Story
The Story Behind OnBeat Consulting
Growing up, I often heard my abuelita say that “al son que me tocan bailo,” literally meaning to dance to the rhythm or beat played. More loosely translated, it means to continually adapt to the rhythm of life. My abuelita taught me that to dance to the “son” or beat is to listen intently and respond with curiosity.
I started OnBeat Consulting because I wanted to create a new rhythm, a new “son” that teams and organizations could dance to – one marked by a strategy that actually helps you make decisions, practices that transform how teams and individuals work together, and structures and spaces where a Latina and first-generation college graduate like myself could also thrive. The future I see and that I strive for is one defined by justice, fairness, intentional experimentation, and joy.
OnBeat Consulting is a tribute to my ancestors who worked tirelessly for a living wage, who courageously adapted to the rhythms of life, and whose dreams I carry in me. In the words of Dr. Christopher Emdin, “I am a constellation of all the experiences I have had that no one else can say that they’ve had that have brought me to where I am today.” It is those experiences, practices, insights, and research studies that I bring through OnBeat.
